After having written my first "Kevin's Thoughts" blog entry, I noticed something about the order of the articles. Specifically, anything written with the category "Kevin's Thoughts" or "Natasha's Thoughts" appears at the top of the page, even if there is a newer "Site News" article. At first I wanted to correct this, but after some thought I think I like it better.

It seems to be driven by the fact that the "Site News" category was created last, and articles are assigned an ordering number according to their category. So the most recent article for "Site News" is assigned an order number of 1 (everything else slides down numerically automatically) and the most recent article for "Kevin's Thoughts" also gets an order number of 1. I have the sort sequence set to "By Order" instead of "By Date" so that I can control what article is displayed first if I so desire. But there is an implicit sort order of "By Category" also going on it seems, which is what keeps the "Kevin's Thoughts" article at the top of the page.

I kind of like this, as it keeps the most recent personal note from me (as opposed to boring site update stories like this one) or Natasha at the top of the page where it is more visible. Of course you can also select "Kevin's Thoughts" or "Natasha's Thoughts" or "Site News" from the Blog menu if you want to go right to articles in those respective categories.
